The Board of Publications

The Board of Publications (BoP) determines the editorial policy of Society publications and assists the Board of Directors in any requested activities related to technical publications and products. The BoP appoints editors for each type of Society publication and encourages members to write journal articles, books or other materials for publication. The BoP principal responsibilities include editing the quarterly newsletter and the website for content, reviewing documents intended for publication on behalf of the Society and updating the Society bibliography of references. The BoP consists of SQA members who have a particular interest in communication within and beyond SQA. The Board of Directors approves a volunteer BoP Chair and this Chair is responsible for submitting mid- and end-of-year status reports of finances, publications and general policies.

The Board of Publications encourages those interested in participating in the Board of Publications Committee activities to contact the chair at any time and to participate as ad hoc members throughout the year.

Elected Committees

Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws Committee (AIBC)

The Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws Committee (AIBC) is an elected standing committee composed of four Active SQA members. The vision of the AIBC is to sustain the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws so that they may act as an adequate and effective foundation for the Society’s operation on behalf of its membership. The AIBC works to achieve this vision by following its Mission Statement. This requires the AIBC to evaluate and recommend to the SQA Board of Directors proposed changes to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, so that, if approved by the Board, these proposed changes may be forwarded to the Membership for consideration and vote.

The objectives of the AIBC are to:

  • Carefully consider proposed changes to Bylaws or Articles of Incorporation for consistency and appropriateness;
  • Seek advice on proposed changes from SQA Legal Counsel as necessary; and
  • Submit final proposed amendments to Bylaws or Articles of Incorporation to the Board of Directors for approval to be placed on the ballot.
Committee members are elected by the SQA membership for a term of three years. Elections are staggered so that two positions are up for election each year for two consecutive years, with no positions open for election the third. Members may serve for two consecutive terms and are eligible for election to an additional term following a lapse of one year.
